A man has been arrested following a search involving a large number of police vehicles and a helicopter .

The air craft was seen hovering over Eythorne and Elvington, near Dover, for more than 30 minutes last Wednesday.

And five police cars, a police van and an ambulance were in the area at around 11am, according to residents.

A police spokesman said: “Officers attended Elvington, near Dover at around 9.25am after a car suspected of being linked to drug dealing was seen in the area."

The car was abandoned in the village and seized while officers continued searching.

A spokesman confirmed a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply on Saturday.

He has since been released under investigation.
