Southeastern trains between Dover and Shepherdswell cancelled as lorry hits railway bridge near Kearsney

A lorry hit a railway bridge near Kearsney this morning - for the second time in a month.

Southeastern announced there were no trains running between Shepherdswell and Dover after the accident.

The accident happened just before 8am and the line reopened shortly before 9am.

But delays and alterations to train services continued for another hour.

A Southeastern spokesman said earlier: "We are currently awaiting further information from the site, and will look to arrange replacement buses if staff advise that the line is expected to closed for a longer period of time.

"In the meantime, passengers travelling between Faversham and Dover should use trains that run through Ramsgate."

Last Tuesday, November 8, train services were suspended for almost two hours after a lorry became wedged under the same bridge in Alkham Road, near Kearsney station.

Kearsney is on the busy Dover to London Victoria line, which is popular with commuters.
