Lorry falls onto sloping grass verge on A2 carriageway, Lydden

Police have helped to recover a lorry which careered off the A2 and onto a sloping bank.

It happened just after midnight at Shepherdswell, with the truck crashing into woodland off the side of the road.

It was recovered at 9.24am.

A police spokesman said: “The incident left some debris on the road which caused a traffic hazard.

“The Highways Agency was called to clear the debris and deal with the traffic lights that were damaged in the collision.”

Lane one, coastbound, was closed at the Lydden traffic lights and Shepherdswell crossroads. It is estimated that it will re-open this afternoon.

An ambulance was called for the driver who is believed to have sustained minor injuries.]

Motorists experienced minor delays.
