Two men from the Netherlands, Johannes Catharina Bams, 62, and Timo Franck, 22, have been charged with the importation of Class A drugs.

They appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 11.

Both have been remanded in custody until their next appearance.

Paul Morgan, director of Border Force South East and Europe said: “By making this seizure, Border Force officers have prevented a substantial quantity of dangerous class A drugs from ending up on the streets. It demonstrates the excellent work our officers carry out to prevent smuggling of all kinds – whether it is illegal drugs, weapons, tobacco or stowaways.

“Working with law enforcement colleagues like the NCA we are determined to do all we can to prevent drug trafficking and put those responsible behind bars.”

Border Force officers use hi-tech search equipment to combat immigration crime and detect banned and restricted goods that smugglers attempt to bring into the country.

Anyone with information about activity they suspect may be linked to smuggling should call the smuggling Hotline on 0800 59 5000.
