Woman dies in ferry tragedy

A WOMAN died this afternoon after an evacuation exercise on a cross-Channel ferry at Dover.

The P&O Stena Line ship P&OSL Aquitaine was berthed at the cruise terminal in Dover Harbour when the exercise took place. Crossings to Calais had been cancelled because of industrial action at the French ports.

It is not known what happened but the woman was airlifted to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital where she died. The circumstances are being investigated.
