Finances will dictate whether Ebbsfleet United strengthen their squad further says boss Liam Daish

Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish says plans to boost his options further will be determined by finances.

The arrivals of goalkeeper Joe Welch this week took Daish’s squad for the Blue Square Bet Premier season to 16.

In a message to fans last week, he said: "I am pretty near to budget now and without more financial clout for the budget, it may be a case of begging, stealing and borrowing to bulk up the squad.

"I have secured the bulk of last year’s squad with a few additions but I really cannot stress enough that we need to be strong to start the season, not the finish."

Former Charlton midfielder Alex Stavrinou (pictured), who had a previous spell on loan at Stonebridge Road, was in the Fleet side who won 2-1 at Thurrock on Saturday.

Another trialist Malvin Kamara and Jacob Erskine were the scorers at Ship Lane.

Fleet drew 2-2 at home against a strong Dagenham & Redbridge side on Tuesday night with goals Giannoulis Fakinos and new signing Liam Enver-Marum.

Dover visit Stonebridge Road on Saturday (3pm), with former player George Purcell set to face Fleet after joining the Whites.
