Kent Fire and Rescue later confirmed a horse had died before firefighters had arrived just before 10.15pm on Tuesday, August 3.

It is believed the foal that escaped the blaze was cared for by people passing the scene of the fire, before being passed into the care of vets.

The foal is now thought to be recovering after being treated for burns.

Two fire engines attended the incident and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

The RSPCA said the incident had not been reported to them.

Police say enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can call 01622 604100 quoting reference 46/140289/21.
