14 sex beasts on the loose, according to Freedom of Information figures

Fourteen sex beasts have gone missing in Kent, it was revealed today.

They include rapists and paedophiles so dangerous police are meant to check them every month.

But police have no idea where they are, it's been claimed.

The figures show Kent has the fourth highest number of registered sex offenders on the loose anywhere in the UK.

In neighbouring Sussex there were 11 sex offenders on the run.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police closely monitors the behaviour and the risk posed to the public by sexual or violent offenders who have been released from prison on licence or are registered sex offenders and living in Kent.

"This work is carried out in partnership with the Probation Service, the Prison Service and other agencies under MAPPA (Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements).

Kent Police's head of public protection unit Detective Superintendent Maria Shepherd said: "Kent Police holds public protection at the heart of its business.

"Our joint police and probation public protection team operates as a centre of excellence working closely with our MAPPA partners.

"Protecting the people of Kent is our priority."

The statistics, obtained by The Sun newspaper, were released under the Freedom of Information Act.
