One hotel opened its doors to some unusual guests when about 15 bloodhounds came to stay.

The Harrow Hill Hotel, near Lenham, played host to the animals and their owners who were competing in The Bloodhound Club Championship Bloodhound Trial on the Pilgrims Way.

Hotel proprietor Giovanni D’Avola said contestants had come from far and wide include one champion sniffer from Belguim.

The championship is held in a different location each year as the dogs, which chase a scent rather than an animal, have good memories.

It has not been in Kent for at least 12 years.
