A Chatham man has launched a late-night alcohol delivery service in Medway.

Matt Jackson, 23, hit upon the idea when he and friends stayed in Brighton and used a similar service there.

Matt, who launched the service with a party night at the Star pub, Watling Street, Gillingham, on Saturday .

After consulting with Medway Council he was granted an alcohol licence and hopes people in the Towns will use the service.

He said: “As a responsible licensee I will ensure all of the licensing objectives are upheld in the best possible fashion.

“My service will hopefully encourage people to go home or to their friends’ houses to enjoy a drink if they so wish. This may well help stop people from drinking in town centre streets.

“The delivery aspect will also ensure people are not drink-driving.”

Matt says he has had mostly positive feed back from people he knows and his friends are spreading the word.

The service, which can provide beer, spirits, alcopops, cigarettes and condoms, will be available from Sunday to Thursday from 10pm-4am and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10pm-5.30am.
