I was pleased to see that Fitz Peggy, tipped here last week, won not once but twice during the week.

She is certainly versatile, recording the wins over both the 380 and 540m distances to give combined winning odds of 13-2.

As stated, she will have surprised many, not least her owner, so with four wins on the bounce, do not be too disappointed if she doesn’t win next time.

She will be well worth watching out for over the coming months.

I thought Malachys Gold looked all over a likely winner when I saw the opposition he had on last Friday evening’s card.

After all, this is a dog who has run in top grade A1 as recently as in May and now finds himself down in grade A5.

Having had 31 races here, we are all aware of what he is capable of on the clock. Having said that, I for one have always been of the opinion that he has been highly tried in the past.

The dog has early pace and has won in times around the 23.65sec mark. Certainly good enough to win at his current level – if only he could get a little more luck.

He is overdue some and I am hopeful that his fortunes will change for the better in this grade soon.

Planet Queen, who beat Malachys Gold on Friday, will find herself in an A4 race on her reappearance.

She has performed well before in the higher grade and I have a bit of a soft spot for her, although her trapping is hit-and-miss.

You never know what to expect, it will be either early pace or missed break. There is no in between with her.

What I do know is that if in contention early then she will be thereabouts at the winning line.

With a 23.90 win time last Friday, she may not find too much more on the clock but her formbook shows a win in an A4 around that time so let’s hope she turns up for the races when she goes to traps this week.

Everyone likes a dog that returns big odds and in Liskees Joy you have such a greyhound. With win odds of 5-1 (A2), 7-1 (A1) and 12-1 at Brighton in an open race. she continues to surprise the local bookmakers.

It seems that she has little respect for the decent dogs behind her when she hits the front and you always have that underlying feeling that she might just do it again at any time.

She is a dangerous little character, who will reward you well if she is your type and you have strong nerves.
