Andy Hessenthaler welcomes four players back into the Gillingham squad to face Morecambe but loses two more to injury

Gillingham's injury merry-go-round continues with four players coming in but two more dropping out of the squad ahead of Saturday's trip to Morecambe.

Captain Barry Fuller (pictured with manager Andy Hessenthaler) is expected to head the list of those players returning but keeper Alan Julian drops out of the starting XI after fracturing his hand.

Gillingham have been plagued by injury woes since the start of the season but despite Julian being out along with Curtis Weston, boss Andy Hessenthaler believes things are looking up.

"We’re looking a bit stronger and a bit brighter," said the Gills manager.

Fuller (knee) is set to be followed back into the squad by on-loan Norwich striker Cody McDonald (foot) and Jack Payne (dead leg), while Mark McCammon (hamstring) also returns.

Hessenthaler said: "We’re probably going to change a few players, that’s the game. Barry is our captain and he’ll come back in and we’ve brought Cody in to score goals.

"Jack is only young but he’s got great ability. Last Saturday (Lincoln) wasn’t a great performance and we all know that. These are good players and it makes competition for places."

Julian’s fracture is only slight and he is likely to be sitting on the bench as Lance Cronin makes his Gills debut.
