Arrest after driver 'goes down M2 without tyre'

A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after this badly damaged car was allegedly seen by several people heading along the M2.

The picture, tweeted by Kent Police roads officers, clearly shows severe damage to the front of the car, including no tyre.

The vehicle was said to have been seen driving for miles with heavy damage to its front, with several witnesses reporting the sight near junction 5 for Maidstone and Sheerness.

Police arrested a person, who was allegedly over the legal drink limit, on the motorway.

Kevin Vernon, 37, of no fixed address, will appear before magistrates on February 23, charged with drink driving.

He was arrested on the A249 Stockbury at 9.20pm last night.
