The tip slots in Kent as Household Waste Recycling Centre appointments run out for Bank Holiday weekend

Tip slots are all booked up for the Bank Holiday weekend - and in some parts of Kent there are no drop-off appointments for weeks.

Those planning to do a lot of DIY over the upcoming long weekend will have to wait to dump the debris.

People in Ashford will have to wait until September 23 for the next time slot. The next appointment in Maidstone is September 14.

Anyone looking to book an appointment in Ashford will need to act fast, with only 22 left next month. Maidstone has 63 left for September.

However, there's no need to stress just yet as visitors are allowed to travel into other areas to drop off their waste.

Of the 18 waste centres, 14 have their next available slot on Tuesday, September 1, all of which have well over 100 appointments left throughout the month.

Tunbridge Wells and Folkestone do not, but still have appointments available in the first week of September.

Deal currently has the most time slots available with 137 through September, with the next one being available on Tuesday, September 1.

As UK online sales for building materials rose by 31.4% this year during lockdown, it is likely many will still be eager to get some home improvements and sort outs done over the weekend.

After tips reopened in May an online booking system was set up by KCC.

Visitors are limited to two time slots per calendar month and must only use the centres if waste cannot be disposed of though curbside collections.
