Biker suffers life-threatening injuries in Maidstone crash

A 36-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle was involved in a crash with a car in Maidstone.

The rider was thrown from his bike in the accident, which happened on the A229, Upper Stone Street, at the junction with Woodville
Road at around 4.30pm Sunday.

The Kent Air Ambulance landed in a nearby field and the man was flown to a hospital in Romford, Essex.

A police spokesman said the man suffered "serious injuries, deemed to be life-threatening".

The driver of the car involved - a silver Audi A4 - was not seriously hurt.

The road was closed until around 9pm Sunday while investigations took place.
