A pilot has flown across the Channel in an original Bleriot monoplane.

Mikael Carlson, from Sweden, planned to make the crossing from France to England yesterday, to mark the centenary of the first cross-Channel flight.

But his take-off was scuppered by strong winds.

He eventually arrived at around 9am today, after a flight lasting just over half an hour.
