A FORMER soldier who lost his sight in an Army helicopter crash is visiting six schools in Medway this week to show pupils how he copes with everyday life.

Steve Pendleton will also give students a chance to enter a world of visual impairment by allowing them to try on a pair of spectacles that simulate everything from tunnel vision to cataracts.

The World Without Vision presentation, which is being given between today and Thursday, has been organised by St Dunstan’s, a national charity that provides rehabilitation, training and lifelong care for blind ex-servicemen and women.

The presentations will be given to pupils at English Martyrs Primary School, Strood; St Helen’s Primary, Cliffe; St Margaret’s at Troy Town, Rochester; Hundred of Hoo School, Hilltop Primary, Frindsbury and Thomas Aveling, Rochester.

Mr Pendleton has given presentations at other schools in the county over a period of time.
