A filmmaker from Herne Bay has been shortlisted in the Kent horror film festival 2 Days Later 2008.

Blood Relative, by Russell Gomm, is among movies of zombies, demons and ghosts which will be painting Margate’s Theatre Royal blood red on Saturday.

More than 175 horror films have been made specially for the sixth annual competition based on the brief that each one is no more than 10 minutes long and produced within 48 hours.

Shortlisted films will be screened at 7pm, followed by an awards ceremony.

Films that narrowly missed the shortlist will be screened from 2pm and be eligible for an audience vote.

Prize categories include Best Film, Best Writer and Best Performance with an audience vote for Most Popular Film.

Competition co-director Mick Etherton said: “The filmmakers really got into the 'spirit’ of the event.

“Audiences can look forward to a very diverse and innovative programme and we guarantee we will have them cowering in the aisles with fright.”

Free tickets are available for the screenings and awards ceremony by emailing info@2dayslater.co.uk

Applicants must state their name, the number of tickets required and whether that is for the 2pm or 7pm screening or both.
