Two teenagers have been arrested after a crash involving a moped in a car park at a Medway shopping centre.

The 16-year-old, from Rainham, and the 15-year-old, from Hempstead, were both taken to Medway Maritime Hospital after the crash in one of the Hempstead Valley Shopping centre car parks in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were called at about 4.50am and a cordon was in place until midday.

It is thought the boys, who were reportedly not wearing helmets, hit a speed bump and were thrown from the bike.

The scooter was still on its side close to the shopping centre's food hall on Saturday morning.

The boys were released from hospital with one thought to have suffered a broken arm. They were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent.

They have been released on bail until Monday, February 8.
