TWO wards at Medway Maritime Hospital, which were close last week because of winter vomiting disease, have now been re-opened. They are Gundulph and Milton Wards.

However Nelson and Tennyson Wards remain closed because new cases of the disease, cause by a bug known as norovirus, have occured. The bug is a common one and in no way connected with the superbug C-Diff.

Wards affected by the illness are kept closed for 72 hours and cleaning with chlorine based disinfectants are carried out each day. Extra visiting restrictions are also put in place.

People who have suffered diarrhoea or vomiting are asked to keep away from the Hospital.
