Bypass blocked after crash

Motorists are facing heavy traffic after a collision on the A289 Wainscott Bypass near the junction with the A2.

Police believe two vehicles were involved in a crash which happened at around 3.35pm Tuesday.

The driver of one vehicle is thought to have lost control and the collision occurred shortly afterwards.

The second lane of the road 400 yards before the London-bound A2 was closed for emergency services to deal with the incident at around 4.50pm.

There was a recovery vehicle at the scene.

Speaking shortly before 5pm, police said they expected the road to be opened shortly.

One motorist reported queues of traffic leading up to it.
