A candlelit vigil has been held for a young Kent woman who died suddenly after taking drugs.

Friends and family of 20-year-old Haniska Pett from Gravesend, gathered at her favourite nightspot, the Riverside Tavern in Strood for a party in her memory.

It is thought she died after taking cocaine which was contaminated.

Her friend Lauren Burnett hopes their vigil will encourage other youngsters will stay away from drugs.

She said: "We don't wish anyone to go through what we are going through. Everyone left behind is suffering – anyone who knew Haniska is suffering."

She added: "She would want to be remembered for the party girl she was.

"She was always there for you day or night, you could always rely on her. It has been such a terrible shock and it still hasn't sunk in."
