Climber airlifted after fall

A MAN is recovering in hospital after falling 20ft from a climbing wall at a Medway activity centre yesterday.

The 36 year old, who has not been named, was climbing the eight-metre wall at the Arethusa Venture Centre in Upnor when he fell at around 1.30pm.

Kent Air Ambulance arrived to find him unconscious. He was taken by helicopter to Maidstone Hospital where he is being treated for injuries to his neck, leg, back and wrist.

The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the accident.

Managers at Arethusa Venture Centre have launched an internal inquiry.
