Concert tribute to victims of US atrocities

THANET is to pay its tribute to the victims of the New York and other US disasters with a memorial concert supported by the KM Thanet Extra newspaper. The event, America: A Salute, takes place at the Winter Gardens, Margate, on Tuesday, October 16 at 7.30pm. Local musicians have offered their services free to create an evening of light music, jazz and classical pieces.

Among those contributing will be Alan Harrison, Scots piper, of Herne Bay; musician and composer John Myhill, of Broadstairs; master African drummer Ali Njai, and popular singer Tony Rocco, whose songs will include Frank Sinatra’s New York New York.

The event is supported by Thanet Leisureforce, which has donated the venue

Deputy council leader Iris Johnston said: "We are only too happy to liaise

with individuals who share our wish to show our deep concern for all those

affected by these terrible disasters."
