Motorists were faced with long delays during Monday morning's rush hour after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on the A2 at Gravesend.

The accident - which involved a blue Peugeot estate car and a Suzuki motorbike - happened on the London-bound carriageway between the Tollgate junction (A227) and the Bean interchange just before 7.40am.

According to police, the motorcyclist was taken to Darent Valley Hospital as a precaution.

No one in the car was injured. Two lanes were closed and traffic stretched back as far as Cobham junction. The road reopened at around 8.10am.
