The accident happened about half a mile from the Brenley Corner roundabout at around 12.40pm Saturday.

A police spokesman said the 51-year-old victim appeared to lose control of her grey Raleigh bike and fall as a saloon car with a roof rack overtook her.

She was then hit by a burgundy-coloured Peugeot 206 following behind.

The woman was airlifted to hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

The road was closed in both directions from Love Lane to Brenley Corner until 4pm.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit on 01622 698538.
