A fraudster is targeting residents in Kent to take part in a £1,000 prize raffle for charity.

The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association are advising people of the hoax following complaints from households in Whitstable, Thanet and Faversham.

A woman is knocking on people's doors showing a Guide Dogs ID card to prove the raffle is legal.

But the charity says it is a scam and this person does not work for them.

A spokesman from the charity said: "This person is acting fraudulently. They are not a staff member or volunteer for the charity, and we have no knowledge of this raffle or the prize being offered.

"If this person contacts you offering you raffle tickets, please contact local police and report them immediately"

It costs £10 per day to breed, train and support each of the 4,600 guide dog partnerships in the UK and the charity receives no government funding.

Guide Dogs depends on voluntary donations to provide guide dogs and other mobility services for blind and partially-sighted people.
