Margate inshore lifeboat helped local lifeguards assist 80 swimmers back to safety yesterday (Sunday) after they started to get swept out to sea.
They were taking part in a charity swim at Joss Bay in Broadstairs at around 9am when the tide began to rise.
A total of around 90 people had joined the event which was raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
