THE final credits will roll for the last time at the Dreamland cinema on Margate seafront in November.

Generations have flocked to the iconic building to see the latest blockbusters but soon the big screens will fall silent.

Mike Vickers, who runs Reel Time Cinema which includes Dreamland, the Carlton at Westgate, and the Kavanagh at Herne Bay, said the proposed opening of a ten screen multiplex at Westwood Cross in Thanet is responsible.

A lengthy document warning of the impact that the Westwood Cross cinemas will have on Dreamland and the knock-on effects on Margate businesses was sent to Thanet council but the multiplex project was still supported, added Mr Vickers.
