Driver due in court after police follow car

A 41-year-old man is due before Canterbury magistrates today after a car was followed by police along the Thanet Way from Whitstable and the A2 to Teynham.

Matthew Lewis, of Deerton Street, Sittingbourne, is charged with driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop for a police officer, careless driving and having no insurance.

He was arrested in Ditton Lane, Teynham, at 4.40pm on Sunday.

A 73-year-old man from Sittingbourne, who came out of a house in Ditton Lane at the time of the arrest, later accepted a police caution for the public order offence of using threatening words or behaviour.
