Border Agency staff at Dover's Eastern Docks have seized 700 kilos of amphetamines and more than 120 kilos of cannabis said to be worth £6.3 million.

The drugs, destined for Northampton, were found in a consignment of coffee machines in the back of a Polish-registered vehicle on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old Polish man was arrested and charged with drug smuggling offences and has been remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Dover Magistrates Court again next month.
