Drugs raid at Maidstone bar

Maidstone night spot The Source Bar will be closed this weekend following a police drugs raid on the premises.

The decision to suspend the club's licence was made at a special hearing of Maidstone council's Licensing Committee on Thursday July 9, two days after more than 40 police officers raided the bar.

Drugs were found and six people were arrested in the raid at around 11.30pm on Tuesday July 7.

A 23-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, a 29-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of drugs-related offences. All four are from the Maidstone area and have been bailed until Friday, September 11, 2009 pending further inquiries.

A 26-year-old Maidstone woman was cautioned for possessing a Class A drug.

An 18-year-old Maidstone woman was arrested for public order offences and bailed until Tuesday July 14 2009.

According to the club's website Tuesday nights are 'Kent's premier student night for indie and electronic music'.
