Elderly woman trapped as car hits Whitstable bungalow

A car crashed into a bungalow in Whitstable on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to Valkyrie Avenue just after 4pm after reports that an elderly lady was trapped.

Firefighters cut her free from her red Peugeot 306 and the Kent air ambulance landed in a nearby park off Columbia Avenue. Crews were stood down after the woman was taken to hospital by land ambulance around 5pm suffering from leg injuries.

A male pedestrian also suffered a back injury in the accident and was taken to accident and emergency by paramedics. His condition is not believed to be serious.

A structural engineer was also called to assess the damage to the house.
