Father and son die in crash horror

A YOUNG father and his seven-year-old son have died following a two-car crash in a Kent village.

Police say an orange Mini and a red Rover were involved in a collision on the A228 at Stoke, on the Isle of Grain, near Rochester, at about 8.40pm on Saturday.

The 27-year-old driver of the Mini died at the scene of the accident. His young son was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital where he died.

Kent Police say that when they arrived on the scene of the crash nobody was in the Rover. They are trying to trace two men believed to have left the scene.

The road was closed until around 2.30am on Sunday while police officers looked for clues to the cause of the tragedy.

Police say the father and son who died came from the Isle of Grain. Their names have not yet been released by police. An inquest will be held.
