Fire crews tackle suspicious caravan blaze

Arson is suspected after a caravan caught alight on Friday night.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at the back of a property

in Castle Road, Chatham, at 10pm.

The two-berth caravan was said to be well alight by the time fire crews arrived.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “We suspect the cause of the fire was malicious.

“The 999 caller reported seeing youths running away from the scene.”
