Firefighters tackle blaze in farm outbuilding

FIREFIGHTERS today battled for nearly two hours after being called to an outbuilding alight on a farm at Wateringbury, near Maidstone.

The building, at Hermitage Farm in Danns Lane, had two floors ablaze. The call came in at 6.45am and four pumps from Maidstone and Larkfield attended the scene.

A spokeswoman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “Four housereel jets and a water unit were required. Defensive firefighting was in use because of the unfit structure of the building.”
