One of the candidates for the vacant manager’s role at Gillingham has been appointed head coach at Barnet.

Mark Robson, a former coach with the Gills, was understood to have been one of several people interviewed for the job as Gillingham manager.

But he has decided to take up the role at Underhill, where he will oversee the running of first team matters.

The Gills have been without a manager since Andy Hessenthaler was removed from the post over a month ago.

Hessenthaler accepted the director of football role at Priestfield and has been organising the pre-season schedule in the meantime, as well as assisting chairman Paul Scally during dealings with out of contract players.

With Robson now out of the running, who do you want to see take over at Priestfield?
