A 53-year-old driver died when his car was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Friday night.

Fire crews cut the dead man from his French-registered Renault car on the London-bound carriageway of the A20, close to the Aycliff roundabout near Dover, after the crash at about 10.30pm.

The driver and passenger from a Vauxhall Safira car were taken to hospital and detained overnight. It is not believed they were seriously hurt.

Police have not named the dead man or those injured in the second car.
