Gillingham have called on all supporters attending Saturday's FA Cup tie against Scunthorpe to turn up at Priestfield wearing the club’s colours.

Boss Martin Allen will be decking himself out in his own colourful outfit as the Gills plan to make their first round tie a ‘red, white and blue day'.

Allen said: "Wouldn’t it be fantastic to see the whole place in red, white and blue when the players come out for kick-off?

"I have got something red, definitely something white and I am going to be wearing red, white and blue. It will be nice for everyone.

"If it's raining, I'm struggling, but I'm still doing it. I'm not changing.

"I've got my gear and I'm ready."

Fans turning up early can also get their face painted by the club’s cheerleaders, the GFC Gems, as the club attempt to create a carnival atmosphere on the day.

And with adult tickets reduced to £15, there is likely to be a bigger than normal crowd, for the match against Scunthorpe.

A club spokesperson said: "We’re calling on our supporters to get kitted out and wear our colours with pride. It doesn’t matter if you are wearing this season’s home or away shirt or even your favourite old winter woolly, as long as it’s red, white and blue."
