Gillingham fans enjoyed another win on Saturday and saw them climb back into the play-off positions. Read what our panel of fans think of the latest three-point haul and add your comments below.

PAUL BLAKELEY

(Maidstone)

"Another three points and another clean sheet – what more could you want from a Saturday afternoon? The pitch looked a bit grim and the wind was playing havoc with any high balls so for the Gills to put on a thoroughly satisfying performance was very enjoyable to see.

"Surprisingly we stuck with the same team who had so much joy against Stockport, with Bayo only on the bench, but all of them put in a decent shift.

"The goal was beautifully worked and Gowling deserves plaudits for not only his defensive work but an intelligent knock down into the path of Cody.

"As a fan of Jackman it was good to see him play fairly well - and I was especially impressed with Rooney when he came on."

SAM LIVINGSTONE

(Pangbourne)

"A really fantastic result for Gillingham to win a match that was a potential banana skin!

"Obviously the abysmal conditions did not help a fluid passing game, however, everyone battled really hard and I was particularly impressed with Danny Jackman against his old club.

"Sometimes he is accused of being a bit lightweight but he was superb in the midfield. I was also very happy with Cody McDonald, who although he may have missed a few chances, he took his goal very well and looked dangerous every time he went forward.

"So where does this leave Gillingham? I think we can safely say that we should be aiming for the automatic spots. However, we do have a few tough games coming up so it will be a very tough period!"

DAVID GARTH

(Gillingham)

"It was never going to be a classic considering the conditions but Gills always looked to be in control, with both Josh Gowling and Matt Lawrence continuing to dominate and rarely putting a foot wrong.

"Once we got the goal – a really well worked goal straight from the training ground – I really couldn’t see anything but a Gills win although it would have been nice to get another goal to settle the nerves.

"Cody McDonald is clearly playing with a good deal of confidence and looks likely to score whenever he is near the goal. I’ve not been a fan of Kevin Maher but thought that he had his best game to date by doing exactly as Hessie wanted by providing cover for the back four. He rarely put a foot wrong."

"That was a disappointment wasn’t it? From the minute the team was announced I couldn’t see where a goal was going to come from.

"It would have been a different game if Billy McKay and Leon McKenzie had been fit as we didn’t have a recognised striker on the pitch. Andy Holt worked hard up there but didn’t get a sniff of a chance. If we’d had options up front I have no doubt we’d have won.

"But Gillingham did just enough to win what was a scrappy game. In my opinion those were two middle-of-the-table teams and promotion is a long way off for either of them. I know Gillingham are now in the play-off places, but on that showing they’re not good enough to go up."
