Gillingham boss Mark Stimson (pictured) is hoping his side have learnt a lesson after they missed a series of goal opportunities and then allowed Norwich a late equaliser at Priestfield on Saturday.

An injury-time header handed Norwich a share of the points after Gillingham failed to hold on to their slender 1-0 lead in League 1.

Stimson said: "At every level you go up, managers will say - if you get the chances you have to take them.

"If you don’t, good sides will come back and haunt you, and that’s what happened.

"We had three or four fantastic opportunities but we didn’t take them. It’s a lesson we have to learn.

"We are disappointed we conceded so late. We were so close from getting an absolutely fantastic victory against a massive club in this division."

Stimson added: "Our home record shows that we score a lot of goals and we haven’t conceded many, and that’s what we are trying to maintain."
