Gills manager Mark Stimson wants Simon King to attack more

by Luke Cawdell

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has given defender Simon King license to attack.

Stimson saw signs on Saturday that defender King could make more of an impact at the top end of the pitch and would like to see more of it.

Stimson said: “He can go and play as high as he likes because he has the ability to do that.

“We encourage him to do that all the time because he is good enough. He put a cross in on Saturday that was as good as any left wing cross I’ve seen this year.

“I know it leaves a big hole at the back when he does that but we say ‘go on son, go and do that’ because he can put in a good delivery.

“For me being a Spurs man he is like Ledley King and when he is missing we have problems.”
