A teenage girl has had her purse stolen by a mugger who smashed a glass bottle across her face.

The 16-year-old girl was walking through an estate in Transfesa Road, Paddock Wood, when she was targeted from behind.

She was grabbed by her attacker who pulled her backwards before hitting her with the bottle.

The offender then stole her purse that fell to the ground in the attack.

The teenager suffered a cut to the bridge of her nose and was treated at hospital.

DC Stuart Cook, from Kent Police, said: "Due to the suddenness of this attack the victim in unable to describe her attacker in any way, and it's not known which direction he/she fled in."

It happened between 6.30pm and 7pm last Friday, but police have only just released details.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to phone Kent Police on 101, quoting reference 19-1410, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
