Girl burned in grass fire

A TEENAGE girl burned her face when she tried to put out a grass fire with tree branches.

It happened at Lomas Road, Murston, Sittingbourne, on Tuesday evening.

Sub-officer Neil Ryder of Sittingbourne Fire Station, said: "She was out with two friends when they came across the fire. She thought she was doing the right thing, but we always advise people not to tackle fires by themselves.

"We put a dressing on her face and she was able to go home. We believe the fire was started deliberately."
