Healthy living and eating was promoted at special days in Sheppey’s three prisons.
The all-day events included blood pressure and cholesterol checks and there were various stalls as well as displays including one warning against the dangers of smokings.
Inmates and staff from Standford Hill, Swaleside and Elmley prisons took part as well as members of the Sheppey Fellowship group for the elderly, who regularly use the swimming pool at Standford Hill.
Gary Lyttle , head of physical education at all three prisons near Eastchurch, said: “We were really pleased with how all three events went with many inmates and staff taking part. It was good to see the Sheppey Fellowship members also taking the opportunity to get their blood pressure and cholesterol tested.”
