Three illegal immigrants were caught short of their north Kent destination - in the back of a lorry carrying toilet rolls.

Officers at the UK Border Agency caught the Afghans hiding among Sainsbury’s double-quilted toilet roll as the truck made its way to the Northfleet supermarket from the Czech Republic.

Border and immigration minister Phil Woolas said: "We're determined to catch those who try and cheat our immigration system, which is why our border controls at the Channel are tougher than ever."

A spokesman for Sainsbury's said the lorry did not belong to the supermarket and was only carrying its goods.
