Illegal rave broken up by police

by Katie Alston

Noise complaints led to police shutting down an illegal rave in a Herne Bay field.

Officers were called out after several residents contacted them angry about loud music coming from a private party being held on land in Bullockstone Road on Saturday night.

When they arrived at the scene just before 9.30pm they found 50 people, however this number later rose to around 250.

Police then made a formal request for the music to be switched off and asked the ravers to leave the area. Partygoers left without protest and anyone else who arrived was turned away.

By 12.30am just a handful of people remained on the land and no further complaints were received.

At 6am the field was completely clear and officers left without any arrests being made.
