Gillingham boss Mark Stimson will spend the week assessing his walking wounded after both Simeon Jackson and Andy Barcham hobbled out of Saturday’s game against Norwich.

The Gills were already without defender Garry Richards, after a second x-ray showed he aggravated a previous fracture in his toe, Mark McCammon (hamstring), and long-term absentees Stuart Lewis and Simon King.

“We’re waiting on Garry to say he’s ready to try it but at the moment he’s struggling to get a shoe on,” said Stimson.

“Barcham is okay. He just caught a nasty knock. It’s the ankle he has had a few problems with and you could see after that he wasn’t running freely so we took him off as we don’t want him missing for too long.

“With Jackson (pictured) we’ll monitor it but it was cramp, it wasn’t a pull. He has played a lot of football and he hasn’t had a big break at all this year and every so often that can happen, hopefully it will go away.”

Lewis is due to step up his training in the coming days as he continues his long road to recovery. He hasn’t kicked a ball this season after injuring his ankle in pre-season.
