It's been over a week since I suffered a bad ankle injury, and I’m still waiting to find out the full extent of the damage.

I feared the worst when I was the victim of a late lunge just 12 seconds into the match against Bristol Rovers earlier this month.

My left ankle bore the brunt of the impact, and the pain I was feeling was just like when I broke my ankle when I was younger.

I was rushed straight off to hospital and needed gas and air on the way. My sister was with me – she ran straight round as soon as it happened.

Everyone feared it was broken, but thankfully, an X-ray at the hospital showed it’s just ligament damage, although that’s still a serious injury.

Unfortunately, we can’t properly judge how long I will be out for until we get a proper scan of the injury, which can’t happen until the swelling goes down, so I just have to wait and see. The plan was to see a specialist on Tuesday, and hopefully he’ll give me some positive news.

I’m trying to stay positive and I hope I play again this season, but I really don’t know at the minute.

The frustrating thing for me is that I felt I’d cemented my place in the team. I’ve already matched the most games I’ve played in a season, and it’s been great to have a consistent run.

I’ve loved every minute of it, so it’s a shame this injury has happened now when we’ve got some big games coming up at an important stage of the campaign.

I still managed to get The Valley on Saturday, though, and it was great to see us get a win against Yeovil.

I went in the Superstore before kick-off to sign some stuff for supporters, and it was really good to have a chat with fans and hear so many people wishing me well. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Lots of fans were asking me what I thought of the challenge by Dominic Blizzard, and having seen the tackle again on television, it doesn’t look good.

(Rovers manager) Paul Trollope has defended Blizzard, and I can’t blame him for that – any manager is going to back their own player. Any neutrals would have to say it’s not a great tackle, though.

I’ve had no contact with him and no one’s called me from Bristol. I’m not expecting it, though, as these things happen in football. You just have to move on.

Charlton is about more than me, though, and I’ll be supporting the lads as much as possible in the next few months.
