James Tredwell is hoping to put a difficult 2008 behind him and rediscover his best form this summer.

Tredwell’s performance the previous summer, and with the performance squad in India during the following winter, led to his first call-up to the England one-day squad at the start of last year.

The 27-year-old spinner’s form dipped when he returned to the county circuit, but he is hoping to bounce back this season.

"I had a tough year," he admitted. "I didn’t do as well as I had done the previous year and was probably struggling, after coming back from a one-day tour, with a couple of technical things.

"Hopefully, I have ironed them out during the winter and am looking forward to this year.

"I have been making sure I am nice and fit and have had a little bit of a break to reflect on where I needed to improve and have been putting those things right."

Tredwell (above) has set his sights on helping Kent win a one-day trophy and getting back into the top flight of the Championship.

"We’ve been playing good cricket in the one-day form for a couple of years now. Hopefully, that can continue and we can just finish it off and win a couple of trophies.

"In the Championship last year we played some good attacking cricket and that showed with the amount of games we won.

"But the other side of it is seeing out the draws when we need to and, hopefully, getting that promotion."
